INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Currently our primary focus is on opportunistic resort investments in the Maldives islands, which are hailed as one of the most attractive hotel destinations globally.
We invest in opportunities we believe to have potential to generate out-sized returns through value creation, with asymmetric risk-reward profiles. We generally seek to acquire assets at a discount to market with a particular focus on distressed opportunities.
Direct hotel and real estate investments
Morteza Capital currently provides access to direct equity and debt investments in the Maldivian hospitality market. These range from equity stakes in new resort developments to acquisition of operating hospitality assets and debt placements. Each investment is thoroughly underwritten and executed by the Morteza Capital team on behalf of investors.

Ghaly Murthala
Managing Director
Ghaly is a hospitality investment professional with over 14 years’ experience in advising investors and government organizations on the Maldivian hospitality industry. He has advised international investors on hotel investments as Head of Business Development at FJS Consulting, one of the Maldives’s leading management consultancies, where he also headed FJS Consulting’s hotel finance and brokerage practice.
Anas Halabi
Director
Anas is co-founder and Director of Prediam Partners, a boutique hospitality investment advisory firm based in Dubai, and has successfully initiated and supported numerous hospitality developments, including the 320-key Rhossos Rotana Hotel & Resort in the south of Turkey, Hometown LLC., an income producing residential hospitality portfolio in Dubai and the Four Seasons Resort Hotel and Residences in Hvar, Croatia.

Fareeha Shareef
Fareeha is the co-founder of FJS Consulting, one of Maldives’s leading management consulting firms. She was formerly Chairperson of the Bank of Maldives and has also chaired the investment committee for the Maldives National Pension Fund.
Anas Halabi
Anas Halabi is a Director of Morteza Capital and has over 10 years of experience in hotel investments in the Middle East and Europe. He is also Managing Partner of Prediam Partners, a boutique investment advisory firm based in Dubai, which has advised and supported numerous hospitality developments in various capacities.
Mohamed Fizan
Fizan is the Founding Partner at Fizan and Partners and a former Partner at Shah, Hussain and Co. Barristers and Attorneys, one of the leading commercial law firms in the Maldives. He has assisted in structuring and closing several hotel transactions in the Maldives, and was also a member of the investment committee for the Maldives National Pension Fund.
